This tea time traditional snack is arguably the best partner for an evening tea/coffee! It is always a Catch-22 situation when it comes to this - Chai /Filter coffee cannot be initiated without Thattai and vice versa.

Thattai is a deep fried snack prepared during Janmashtami or Sri Krishna Jayanthi festival Diwali. It is known as Nippattu in Karnataka and Chekkalu in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana. The typical ingredients are Rice flour, Urad daal (black gram), Fried gram, Chana daal (Bengal gram), Butter and other seasonings which are mixed in their respective proportions.
